So far, a lot of research has only been stored in libraries, dusty and weathered and just gone. More student research results, in addition to the large quantity, are also quite varied and inspiring. The Journal of Kronologi seeks to bridge this. The results of students' final research are both related to history and research related to history education. All of them are seen as worthy of publication. Journal of Kronologi as the container. Not only the results of research by history students of Padang State University but broadly the results of final research of students from all universities in Indonesia.
https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1079 Paperja : Organisasi Perantau Jawa di Bukittinggi-Agam (1980-2025) 2026-07-28T23:19:17+00:00 Meilinda Sri Wahyuni melindasriwahyuni2305@gmail.com Najmi Najmi najmi@fis.unp.ac.id
This study examines the development of the Javanese migrant organization, Paguyuban Perantau Jawa (PAPERJA), in the city of Bukittinggi and Agam Regency from 1980 to 2025. The study aims to explain the background of PAPERJA’s formation and its development during that period. The research method employed is the historical method, which consists of four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. During the heuristic stage, data were collected through interviews, archives, documentation, and membership records. The source criticism stage was conducted to assess the validity of the obtained sources. The interpretation stage was used to analyze and connect historical facts chronologically, while the historiography stage involved the systematic writing of the research findings. The results indicate that PAPERJA was formed as a unifying platform for Javanese migrants and experienced significant development through 2025. This development was marked by leadership transitions, an increase in membership, the expansion of the organization’s territory, and the growth of social activities such as disaster relief, community celebrations, religious study groups, the management of communal graves, and the establishment of cooperatives. PAPERJA plays a vital role in strengthening solidarity and a sense of community among the Javanese migrant community in Bukittinggi City and Agam Regency.
2026-07-28T23:18:44+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1092 Syekh Imam Mahyudin al-Khalidi dan Perannya dalam Penyebaran Tarekat Naqsyabandiyah di Nagari Koto Baru (1978-2023) 2026-08-15T14:24:04+00:00 Azizul Rahman azizulrahman2808@gmail.com Siti Fatimah sitifatimah@fis.unp.ac.id
This study examines the urole of a local ulama in the development of the Naqshbandiyah order in Nagari Koto Baru, Sngai Tarab District, Tanah Datar Regency, with particular attention to Syekh Imam Mahyudin al-Khalidi. Previous studies have generally examined the order at the regional level or focused on prominent figures, leaving the role of nagari-level religious leaders in the contemporary period underexplored. This study traces Syekh Imam Mahyudin’s life and scholarly genealogy and analyzes his role in developing the order between 1978 and 2023. The historical method was employed through four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected from interviews with six informants, family documents, photographs, the Surau Talang endowment document, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that Syekh Imam Mahyudin assumed the leadership of Surau Talang in 1978 after receiving a mandate from his teacher, Syekh Abdurrahman Malin Batuah, whose scholarly lineage was connected to Syekh Abdurrahman al-Khalidi, known as Syekh Kumango. He maintained the order’s principal religious activities while developing adaptive forms of community engagement through Silat Kumango and the Al-Badriah shalawat group. These approaches enabled Surau Talang to engage congregants from diverse social backgrounds and supported the continuity of the Naqshbandiyah order and its religious activities until his death in 2023.
2026-08-15T14:24:03+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1081 Nurcaya : Pengusaha Industri Kopi Nur di Sungai Penuh Tahun 1959-2025 2026-08-20T08:44:57+00:00 Aulia Cahya Ningrum auliachyanngrm@gmail.com Hendra Naldi hendranaldi@fis.unp.ac.id
This study aims to trace Nurcaya’s life journey in developing the Kopi Nur business in Sungai Penuh. The research methodology employed was the historical method, comprising four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The research findings show that Nurcaya started the Kopi Nur business on a modest scale in 1959. The development of the Kopi Nur business was marked by the expansion of marketing to the Pesisir Selatan through a credit system that began in the 1960s, packaging innovations involving the application of the ‘Nur’ brand in the 1980s, the employment of eight staff members in 1984, and a strategic decision following the 1995 Tanjung Bajure market fire not to produce coffee that had been exposed to smoke and water in order to preserve its flavour. Although studies on the development of Islamic boarding schools have been widely conducted, research that specifically examines the historical transformation from a madrasah into a modern Islamic boarding school at the local level remains limited. This study examines the transformation of Madrasah Diniyyah Pasia in Nagari Pasia, Ampek Angkek Candung District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, into Pondok Pesantren Modern Diniyyah Pasia. The study aims to analyze the background, dynamics, and driving factors behind this institutional transformation. The research employs the historical method consisting of four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected through institutional archives, historical documents, related literature, and interviews with institutional leaders, alumni, and local community members. The results reveal that the institutional transformation was influenced by several key factors, including government policies through the Joint Decree of Ministers in 1975 and 1977 regarding Islamic education, the decline in the number of students during a certain period, community demands for improving educational quality, and the strategic role of alumni in encouraging institutional reform and educational system development. The transformation process was not without challenges, particularly financial constraints and the need to adapt to a more modern educational system. Nevertheless, in 1992 the institution was officially transformed into Pondok Pesantren Modern Diniyyah Pasia and has continued to develop to the present day. This study contributes to the historiography of Islamic education by highlighting the dynamics of institutional transformation at the local level in responding to social change and educational policy developments.
2026-08-28T02:01:19+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1099 Rozac Tanjung: Maestro Pencipta Lagu Minang 2016-2025 2026-09-01T16:14:17+00:00 Miftahul Ukhuwah Nada nadamiftahul9@gmail.com Najmi Najmi najmi@fis.unp.ac.id
This study examines the life journey and works of a Minangkabau songwriter in West Sumatra. The data were obtained through direct interviews with Rozac Tanjung, as well as interviews with colleagues, singers, and parties who collaborated with him, and by collecting archives and documents directly from his residence. Based on the findings, it is known that Roza Candra, better known as Rozac Tanjung, is one of the maestros of Minangkabau songwriting who has produced approximately 800 works throughout his career. This productivity reflects his dedication, hard work, and consistency in contributing to the Minangkabau music industry. Rozac Tanjung possesses innovative and creative abilities in composing Minangkabau songs. His innovation is evident in his ability to combine traditional Minangkabau dendang elements with Malay pop music, resulting in works that preserve the identity of traditional music while remaining appealing to contemporary audiences. These characteristics distinguish his works from those of other Minangkabau songwriters and contribute to the attractiveness and acceptance of his songs among listeners.
2026-08-28T02:26:58+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1094 Transformasi Fungsi dan Peran Museum Perjuangan Tridaya Eka Dharma Bukittinggi Tahun 1973-2025 2026-09-01T16:15:09+00:00 Gusventio Zulmarta gusventiozulmarta@gmail.com Etmi Hardi etmihardi@fis.unp.ac.id
Museums function not only as institutions for preserving cultural heritage but also as spaces for shaping collective memory, providing public education, and representing historical narratives. Political changes in Indonesia have significantly influenced the functions and roles of museums, including the Tridaya Eka Dharma Struggle Museum in Bukittinggi, which was established during the New Order era. This study aims to analyze the transformation of the functions and roles of the Tridaya Eka Dharma Struggle Museum from an instrument of political legitimacy to a historical tourism destination during the period of 1973-2024. This research employed the historical method with a qualitative approach, consisting of four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data were collected through archival research, official documents, field observations, interviews, and relevant scholarly literature. The findings reveal that during the period of 1973-1998, the museum functioned as an instrument of political legitimacy by reinforcing the state's official historical narrative concerning the Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia (PDRI) and the Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Indonesia (PRRI) through the presentation of collections and historical interpretations aligned with New Order policies. During the Reform Era (1999-2010), the museum experienced a paradigm shift from a collection-centered institution to a people-centered institution, leading to the expansion of its educational function in response to democratization and increasing public demand for historical openness. Furthermore, in the period of 2011-2025, the museum strengthened its role as a center for public history education and historical tourism through educational programs, promotional activities, and the gradual adoption of digital media, although challenges remain in terms of funding, human resources, and the digitalization of museum collections. This study concludes that the transformation of the Tridaya Eka Dharma Struggle Museum has been shaped by changes in political regimes, museum policies, and evolving societal needs. These findings demonstrate that the museum has evolved from serving primarily as an instrument of political legitimacy into a public institution that contributes to the preservation of collective memory, history education, and the development of cultural and historical tourism.
2026-09-01T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1104 Perkembangan Festival Pacu Jalur sebagai Penggerak Wisata Budaya di Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi Tahun 1999-2025 2026-09-07T16:54:41+00:00 Windhi Juliani Busri julianibusri@gmail.com Siti Fatimah sitifatimah@fis.unp.ac.id
The Pacu Jalur Festival is an enduring cultural heritage of the people in Kuantan Singingi Regency that has undergone a substantial historical transformation, evolving from a traditional river-based boat racing tradition into one of the primary drivers for regional cultural tourism development. This study aims to deeply analyze the historical development and dynamic trajectory of the Pacu Jalur Festival as a catalyst for cultural tourism in Kuantan Singingi Regency during the period of 1999–2025. This study employs historical research methods, heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography and utilizes primary sources such as historical newspapers, government archives, regional regulations, and interviews with key stakeholders, complemented by relevant secondary literature. The findings reveal that the Pacu Jalur Festival transitioned from a localized community tradition into a structured annual agenda and subsequently matured into a strategic engine for regional tourism development. This evolution was significantly supported by local government policies, active customary community participation, and expanded tourism promotions, thereby contributing directly to cultural preservation and local economic growth. Therefore, strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration among local governments, customary institutions, and local communities remains essential to maintaining the authenticity of the Pacu Jalur Festival through sustainable tourism management, digital promotional strategies, and community economic empowerment to secure its position as a cultural identity and leading tourist attraction.
2026-09-07T00:00:00+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1101 Analisis Kebutuhan Pengembangan Media Audio-Visual Video Meme untuk Menunjang Peningkatan Minat Belajar Sejarah Siswa Kelas XI di SMA N 1 Gunung Talang 2026-09-07T17:32:17+00:00 Rheynoldi Fadrin rheynol6115@gmail.com Ridho Bayu Yefterson ridhobayuyefter@fis.unp.ac.id
This study was motivated by students’ low interest in learning history, which was caused by the use of monotonous and less innovative learning media. The purpose of this study is to provide a foundation for developing audio-visual learning media in the form of Video Memes to support the improvement of students’ interest in learning history in Grade XI at SMA N 1 Gunung Talang. The data analysis technique used in this study was quantitative descriptive analysis, supported by qualitative data. Data were collected through observations and written interviews conducted via Google Forms with 30 students and one history teacher. The results of the teacher interview indicated that students’ lack of interest in learning history was caused by the limited variety of learning media. Students’ interest was reflected in the dominance of the emotional involvement indicator (66,7%) and identity connection (40,0%). Meanwhile, aspects of interest that reflected active engagement and in-depth understanding, such as cognitive engagement (30,0%), behavioral engagement (43,3%), and perceptions of the relevance of history (6,7%), were relatively low. In the media needs survey, most students showed an interest in audio-visual media, particularly videos, with 21 out of 30 students (70%) expressing this preference. Therefore, innovative audio-visual learning media are needed because they have the potential to increase students’ interest in learning. The findings of this needs analysis serve as the foundation for developing Video Meme audio-visual media to support the improvement of students’ interest in learning history, particularly historical topics taught in Grade XI at SMA N 1 Gunung Talang.
2026-09-07T17:32:17+00:00 ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://kronologi.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/jk/article/view/1095 Analisis Kebutuhan Pengembangan E-LKPD Berbasis Project Based Learning Untuk Melatih Keterampilan Proses Sejarah Peserta Didik Fase E di SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung 2026-09-07T18:48:34+00:00 Yosrizal Effendi yosrizal.ef@gmail.com Ridho Bayu Yefterson ridhobayuyefter@fis.unp.ac.id
This study aims to analyze the needs for developing a Project Based Learning (PjBL)-based E-LKPD to foster historical process skills among Phase E students at SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations in December 2024, and document analysis of the existing LKPD. The findings indicate that while PjBL has been implemented in historical writing topics through local history projects, its execution has not systematically adhered to PjBL syntax. Students encounter methodological hurdles, particularly in source criticism and historiographical synthesis. Document analysis reveals that the existing LKPD lacks authentic scoring rubrics and fails to scaffold the inquiry project systematically. All students possess smartphones, and school Wi-Fi is accessible, indicating strong technological feasibility. Curriculum analysis confirms the necessity of synchronizing project steps with historical process skills.
